Are you not sure which performance to choose? Are you feeling an urge to explore? We have you covered with a selection of recommended performances accessible to everyone, regardless of any prior knowledge of the performing arts. If you feel ready to explore Kunstenfestivaldesarts and want to make the best of your experience at the festival, this guide is for you.

For discovering dance in all its forms

Dance is as multifaceted as the views that shape our world. This edition of the festival  allows dancers to fully flex their bodies as tools of resistance, self-defense, liberation, or expression of inner worlds. These selected performances offer you a chance to experience dance in all its forms.

For powerful cinematic experiences

The following performances share one common trait: they were created by artists who come from the world of cinema. These creations invite you to look at things through a different lens.

Cinema Galeries is organising a retrospective of some of their films from the 16th to the 27th of April, a way to revisit or to delve into their poetics in anticipation of the new productions they will present at the festival.

For the love of Brussels

Kunstenfestivaldesarts roots itself firmly in Belgium’s capital. We often seek out unusual locations, off the beaten path, such as a swimming pool, an abandoned factory or an iconic car park. For this edition, Brussels acts as the backdrop for the following creations.

For those who enjoy being challenged

These artists daringly reset boundaries between theatre and reality, while questioning the role we play as spectators. In doing so, they create surprising combinations and bold formats. We recommend the following performances to those who enjoy being challenged.

For the sake of theatre

Several festival artists explore the relationship between theatre and different perceptions of global realities. As a result,  theatre becomes a method of inquiry, through which the lines between stage and reality can be blurred.

For party lovers

Festival weekends featuring nightlife, DJ sets and live music are a must. Kunstenfestivaldesarts lights up your evenings with a free nightlife programme, featuring artists from Brussels and around the world, such as the Italian collective Industria Indipendente. Plus, every Wednesday, the Festival Centre hosts karaoke with Habib Ben Tanfous; undoubtedly the perfect occasion to enjoy the shared energy and vulnerability of singing together in public. These nights, too, are free and open to all.
