Decoratelier is an open workshop and the site of an ongoing quest for the constantly changing spaces in which art, thought and artisans meet. Decoratelier hosts artistic collaborations, festivals, residencies and a wide range of scenographic projects – from performance spaces to nightclubs, from a temporary space for the social restaurant Cassonade to the open-air swimming pool FLOW. In this way, Decoratelier evolves into an architecture studio that makes theatre and a theatre company that shapes spaces. In 2019, Decoratelier received the Flemish Culture Prize (Ultima) in the category of performing arts, and in 2024 it was shortlisted for the European Prize for Contemporary Architecture – Mies van der Rohe Awards as one of four Belgian projects.
