Contribute to Angélica Liddell’s performance

In Seppuku. El funeral de Mishima o el placer de morir, Angélica Liddell explores her own death, inspired by the life, work and poetics of writer Yukio Mishima. The performance begins with an invocation: a farewell ceremony in which she recites a poem that she will write for a garment. Each poem is a jisei no ku, a Japanese lyrical composition traditionally linked to death and the moment of departure from this life.

To help her write these jisei no ku, Liddell is looking for contributions from people who want to commemorate their loved ones in a serene and artistic way. The contributions consist of an item of clothing that once belonged to someone who has taken their own life or has passed away. All garments will be returned safely afterwards.

The final jisei will be sent to the contributor in question, allowing the production to gain insight into their feelings regarding the text and the gesture – a process that ensures both comfort and poetic commitment. This open creative process offers participants an opportunity for encounter and remembrance through poetry and theatre.
