Leu Wijee Palu-Yogyakarta
Leu Wijee (born in Parigi, Central Sulawesi) is a self-taught Indonesian artist, choreographer-dancer based between Palu and Yogyakarta. His artistic practice explores personal and collective experiences that weave together research and the influence of everyday life. Mostly, he uses choreography practice as a way of thinking—to mix-remix various elements—sense, space, sound, object, text and more—into dynamic reflections. Although the body is his primary medium, he sees anything that moves as resonant with his way of working.
In recent years, Wijee has participated in various programs and festivals, including Camping Asia (Workshop Facilitator, 2025), Tainan Arts Festival (International Program, 2025), Kyoto Experiment (Echoes Now, 2025), Kinosaki International Arts Center (Artist in Residence,
2025), Yayasan Kelola (Produksi Karya Inovatif, 2025), Bangkok International Performing Arts Meeting (Performances, 2025), Asia Discovers Asia meeting for Contemporary Performance (Kitchen 2023, Lab 2024), Indonesian Dance Festival (Kampana 2022, Evening Performance 2024), among others.
Throughout his career, Wijee’s performances have taken place in different settings, such as in blackbox, gallery, Japanese traditional house, studio, digital platforms and other alternative space. In addition, he has worked with and performed in the work of other artists, including Eun Me Ahn (2022) and Jecko Siompo (2014-2019).
