Janaina Leite São Paulo

Janaina Leite is an actress, director, playwright, and postdoctoral researcher at the Escola de Comunição e Artes at the University of São Paulo (USP). A key figure in Brazilian theatre within the field of “theatres of the real,” she has created works such as Conversas com meu pai, Stabat Mater (Shell Award for Best Dramaturgy, 2020), Camming 101 noites, História do Olho – um conto de fadas pornô noir, and Deeper. She published the book Autoescrituras performativas: do diário à cena with Perspectiva in 2014, and in 2025 released O feminino e a abjeção – ensaios sobre a ob-cena contemporânea with Annablume. Her work has been presented in countries such as France, Spain, Portugal, the Netherlands, Chile, Belgium, Mexico, and Germany, both through her theatre productions and her theoretical writings. She is currently developing The Black Box or How to Hide the Turtle.
