Revive Gaza’s Farmland is a project that utilises self-mobilisation to raise awareness about resistance to land confiscation in Palestine, the destruction of the agricultural sector, and starvation as a war tactic. As part of The School of Fireflies, it takes the form of a two-day programme featuring a film series, discussions and a workshop. The programme explores themes of food sovereignty and Indigenous resilience, examining the symbolic and practical significance of seeds and relationships with the land as resistance against environmental and colonial oppression. The spectacle of food aid and airdrops is critically questioned, framed as humanitarian but in reality reinforcing the image of dependence, while obscuring the deeper systemic issues at play. By subtly challenging dominant systems, Revive Gaza’s Farmland redefines resilience, creating porous pathways that empower communities to resist and thrive. Through long-term fundraising, the project aims to rehabilitate damaged farms and water wells, cultivate fruit trees, and provide essential materials, striving to build a sustainable, self-reliant agricultural system free from external dependency.
