Lenio Kaklea
Lenio Kaklea is a dancer, choreographer, director and writer born in Athens and based in Paris. She studied at the National Conservatoire of Contemporary Dance in Athens (SSCD), training in classical ballet and modern American techniques and repertoires. She continued her dance career at the CNDC in Angers (2005) before taking a master’s degree in the arts and politics run by Bruno Latour at SciencesPo Paris (2011). Since 2009, Lenio Kaklea has been developing a bold and distinctive writing for the stage. Her artistic practice is inspired by feminism and cultural studies, exploring the creation of subjectivity through the organised transmission of movements and revealing personal spaces in which we construct our identities. Her work has been presented at various institutions and festivals across Europe (e.g. the Pompidou Centre, Bourse de Commerce-Collection Pinault, ImPulsTanz Festival and the Onassis Foundation). She has collaborated with numerous artists on the European and international scene, including Boris Charmatz, Lucinda Childs, Alexandra Bachzetsis, Claudia Triozzi, François Chaignaud, Cecilia Bengolea and Orlando Bass.
