Job opening: Audience Engagement collaborator (M/W/X)

Kunstenfestivaldesarts is looking for an Audience Engagement collaborator for a fixed term of 7 months.

Theatre, dance, performance and visual arts: Kunstenfestivaldesarts is a celebration of international contemporary creation. For three weeks, it invites artists both local and international to challenge our understanding of the world and present their bold artistic creations in some thirty cultural venues and public spaces in Brussels. In 2025, the festival will take place from 9 to 31 May.

Job description

As an Audience Engagement collaborator, you will work closely with the Audience Engagement coordinator and two interns. You will support the operation to bring as many diverse groups and audiences as possible into contact with the festival and its artists. You work under the responsibility of the public relations manager and support her in the following tasks:
• The follow-up of general collaboration with schools and in-depth projects with art schools.
• The follow-up of participatory artistic projects.
• Applying coherent audience mediation approaches to various artistic projects in consultation with the festival's artistic team.
• The follow-up of other educational projects around learning Dutch or French, in collaboration with partners.
• Presenting and representing the festival in schools and other Brussels organisations.
• The follow-up of projects with young people from various Brussels youth clubs and other youth organisations.
• Developing and supervising children's workshops during the festival.
• Managing the ticket reservations of schools and other groups in collaboration with the box office team.
• During the festival, like all other staff members of the festival, you take care of the reception of the public and the evening box offices.

Profile

• You have an affinity with the Brussels’ artistic and/or social field
• You are motivated to work in an atmosphere of dialogue between French and Dutch speakers
• You are bilingual (French/Dutch) and have a good knowledge of English
• You have an understanding of a pedagogical and/or community-building approach
• You are flexible and available for evening and weekend work before and during the festival
• You know your way around Brussels, and you live in Brussels (during the festival)
• You have a sense of responsibility, you are proactive, you like working in a team

Experience, knowledge and enthusiasm are more important than a degree. Kunstenfestivaldesarts is committed to equal opportunities and diversity. In equivalent applications, priority will be given to profiles (gender, background, age, etc.) that are underrepresented in the organisation.

We offer

• A fixed-term contract (due to the periodicity of the festival). Ideally starting on 02 December at 60%, from February onwards 80% and from 09 May: full-time
• A remuneration in line with the collective labour agreement for the performing arts (category B) with the addition of meal vouchers and a lump-sum payment for telephone expenses
• 100% reimbursement of commuting expenses by public transport or bicycle
