We decided to close our festival center
Today, we decided to close our festival center from tonight onwards. As an arts organization, we are aware of the impact our presence can have in a neighborhood and the responsibility that comes with it. The choice of the garden of Pacheco site was made months ago, as an open air space during the pandemic, and before the building surrounding the garden became the symbolic place it is today. However, in recent months, we have not sufficiently used our symbolic power to raise public questions around the evolution of the building, police intervention at the behest of the CPAS, and its management in the future, beyond the three weeks of the festival’s presence. We support the criticism to the call about the future of the building, written too much on a commercial logic. We leave the garden to its owner and we hope that the attention of these last weeks can deepen a reflection about its destination in the long term.
